CUSTOM PENDANT NECKLACE $89

Rather than me describing these awesome, custom silhouette necklaces, read below from the jewelry maker herself and click here for more details.

All I need is a profile photo. Your sweetheart, child, grandchild, dog, cat, horse or even bird's silhouette will be carefully hand cut by me, reduced to size by computer and then lovingly turned into a beautiful keepsake pendant.

I use vintage and antique rings to frame the silhouette. Most are aged brass, please let me know if you have a nickel allergy and I will help you choose the appropriate ring. Your loved one is protected by a thin layer of non-toxic resin. The back of the pendant is covered with decorative paper. I like use italian hand-marbled papers and prints, antique sheet music, and foreign language book pages. I can include any text you would like for an extra $10.

I came across these adorable knitted ornaments and had to share.  Too adorable!

SAFE RADIO $59.99

Did you ever buy that radio that works in case of black outs, or in emergency situations?  I haven't! But here is your answer!  This is a portable radio that recharges with a hand crank and you can plug your iPhone or MP3 player in to it for some sweet tunes.  Made of bio-plastics derived from bamboo.  Perfect gift!

MIDAS GOLDEN CUTLERY $180

I'm becoming more and more warm to the idea of gold (plated) cutlery vs the usual silver.  If you haven't noticed, it's impossible to find good cutlery on the cheap, unless you score some at an estate sale or inherit some from family.  I hate my current cutlery and am always looking to replace my Pottery Barn crappy set, which happens to have been discontinued anyway... grumble.
Buy here from The Conran Shop.
Was $225 for 6 piece set.

HELEN BEARD CERAMIC BIRD CUPS $180 *WISH LIST*

I've had my bird-loving-eyes on these magnificent hand thrown and hand painted bird cups for so long, they are slowly but surely diminishing and only a few varieties are left.  I posted these because it is the holiday season and you never know what peeks someones fancy, but I am definitely not calling these a "deal".  But as pieces of art and collectibles, they do have a place in my blogging heart.

THE ESSENTIAL NEW YORK TIMES COOKBOOK $22

If you are like me, then you love to cook and love to read the Food section of the NYT.  Each recipe comes with a great story and the recipes themselves, are never too complicated or fussy.  It's a great gift idea and if you grab it at Amazon, (I freaking love Amazon!), you'll save 45%!  Buy here.

Check out this editorial review from Publisher's Weekly:

Starred Review. Hesser, a food columnist for the New York Times, offers a superb compilation of the most noteworthy recipes published by the paper since it started covering food in the 1850s. What she has produced is no less a chronicle of American culinary history--an evolutionary progression that marks the notable and sometimes regrettable changes in our approach to food--than a cookbook. Recipe originators are a hodgepodge of talent, including noted chefs and the kitchens of famed restaurants such as Le Bernardin as well as Times writers, most notably Craig Claiborne, whose culinary mastery is evidenced throughout. Every category of food is covered, and each recipe is accompanied by serving suggestions for complementary dishes within the book. From 1877's tomato soup and 1907's roast quail with sage dressing to Eisenhower's steak in the fire and 1968's sour cream coffee cake, Hesser showcases the best of the best. Each recipe is dated, and many include cooking notes. Hesser, whose witty bent permeates every page, does a more than admirable job with this stellar collection of more than 1,400 recipes, which should grace the shelves of every food-lover. (Oct.) (c)
